Friday 29th April, the Gallery of Cultural Center Serbia in Paris, an exhibition entitled "Serbia, the country of the frescoes."
During the next two months, visitors will have a chance to see 13 copies of the frescoes, stone castings plastic, and two models of the interior of the monastery Sopocani and Miles. Learning about one segment of the Fund Gallery of Frescoes, the audience will be able to be directly acquainted with the specific visual expression of the Serbian medieval spirituality.
Numerous monasteries, built from 12 to 15 century, represented the spiritual refuge and nursery art, and the fundamental bases of future institutions of modern society. During this period formed the basis for prosperity indigenous culture, the influence of the combination of Romanesque and Gothic art in the field of architecture and sculpture, with Byzantine art in the field of painting.
Serbian medieval art climate can be presented in many ways, but the frescoes and sculptures, and certainly its most representative najrečitiji vision. Thus, the Parisian audience represented famous fresco "Madonna with the Christ foster parent" of the Virgin Ljeviska. Painting program was launched in Decani fresco of "St. George", Gracanica - founder's portrait of King Milutin and Queen Simonida, Sopocani - fragment komozicije "Nativity" and the church of St. Demetrius from Pec Patriarchate complex - the scene "The Birth of the Virgin."
As material evidence of a past time, the frescoes are also and timeless in the understanding of the destiny of a nation, its spirituality and ideology. Besides the religious aspect, these frescoes were and remained a symbol of spiritual and state independence of medieval Serbia, and now an essential part of Serbian cultural identity.
Exhibition Serbia, the country of the frescoes, which was first time realized 2007th when it was presented in Strasbourg and then in Klagenfurt and Ljubljana, will be open until 30 June and also will be scheduled events Night of the Museum's 15th May at which the Serbian Cultural Center regularly participates.
by the presence of the exhibition, Mr Bojan Popovic, manager Gallery of Frescoes in Belgrade and director of the National Museum in Belgrade, dr.Tatjane Cvjeticanin, then a number of distinguished guests such as Vladimir Velickovic, Ljuba Popović Ljubinke Jovanovic and others, the exhibition was opened by the Serbian Ambassador to France, et al. Dusan T. Batakovic.
